Bondage sex toys come in all shapes and sizes: handcuffs, tie-ups, blindfolds, chains, whips…the list goes on. It is obvious what most of these products do so we won’t discuss them here, but here are some recommended products followed by some tips for when you’re indulging in a bondage session.

Bondage Tips

Discuss your fantasies beforehand

It’s good to share your fantasies and talk about what kind of new things you’d like to explore. You should always be explicit about what you do and don’t want to experiment with especially if you or your partner are going to be tied up or restrained! Again, people have different tastes -what you may find erotic might be uncomfortable to your partner. No one can then be pressurised into doing something they might not enjoy.

Start slowly

Begin slowly and progressively build the intensity and duration of your sessions. This will help you become more comfortable and experienced with each session. For example, start with something soft or non-threatening and move on to more sophisticated levels or combinations of restraint as you become more experienced with bondage and discipline.

Start simply

Try using a set of easy release handcuffs or a blindfold to begin with. Starting in this manner increases the sense of being dominated without giving up too much control.

Use a Safe Word

Safe words are words chosen before you begin a session and are used to alert your partner to stop immediately. Avoid using words like “no” or “stop” as these are often used as part of the role play. A common word is “red”, as it is non-associated with the role play. Safe words should be taken very seriously as they prevent the risk of something going wrong, and can stop your partner from having something done to them that they won’t enjoy.

Be prepared!

Be prepared for every eventuality in your role play. This includes having something on standby to cut ties or restraints, or having a duplicate set of keys for your cuffs.
